(hardware, software, communication, and data) and their subcomponents in HW1. The
hardware component has about 15 factors. The software component has about 15 factors.
The communication component has about 10 factors. The data component has about 6
factors. Each factor should have at least one complete sentence. Don’t have your answer

subcomponents are as in HW1 Q1, but to explain what make them more efficient.
For example,
(A) Hardware:
CPU –more # of cpu and the higher processing rate/clock rate (GHz) the more
efficient. (40%)
CPU – RISC processor are more efficient than CISC in real-time processing.
Cache – the more # of cache latches, the more efficient the CPU will be.
Synchronization of length (bytes) among CPU, memory, and data bus is one of the
most critical factors impact computer efficiency.

(e) Hardware – consider the following factors

# of CPU/core, GHz. For example, you should not simply say, “# of CPU impact
computer performance”. That’s too vague. Your answer should be, “the more # of
CPU/core, the more powerful. The higher the frequency (G Hz), the more powerful the
computer is.
size and types of memory: for example SSD is more efficient than HD. DRAM is more
efficient than SRAM & SDRAM, but more expensive. The more RAM size is, the
more powerful the computer is. Cache size. Big Endian and small Endian memory
chips should not be mixed in the same board.
Synchronization of CPU, memory, and data bus on the data size (# of bytes) and clock.
This is the most critical factor of the computer efficiency. For example, if a CPU is 64bit processor, while memory is 32-bit and data bus is 16-bit, then for each CPU
instruction, CPU needs to wait 2 memory cycle to load the 64-bit instruction, and 4
cycle for the data bus to load the 64-bit instruction. It is a big waste of CPU processing
time. Similarly with the clock cycle time of these three components (explain it).
